Basilica Santa Croce

Basilica Santa Croce The church of Santa Croce is in Gothic style. Completed in 1294, it is the largest Franciscan church in the world.

Several of its chapels are decorated with very beautiful frescoes, realized in particular by Giotto and Gaddi, as the chapel of the Cappella Bardi (XIV). It is a precious testimony of the Florentine art of the fourteenth century.

It preserves several tombs of famous Florentines such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Dante or Machiavelli.

Since its construction, it represents a large part of the history of Florentine art with its imposing Gothic style, frescoes, stained-glass windows, altarpieces and sculptures.
Outside the church are two cloisters and the Pazzi chapel.
